The score of Perucho's La Bayamesa

Most historians agree that Figueredo wrote the music of his La Bayamesa on August 15, 1867, and the words on October 20, 1868, following the taking of Bayamo, but a manuscript, signed by Figueredo, and including both words and music, exists which is dated November 1869.  Its former owner, señorita Adela Morel de Onos, claimed that Perucho had written La Bayamesa at her father’s Santa María plantation where Figueredo, Céspedes and other leaders of the revolution used to go for rest and relaxation.  It seems reasonable to suppose that this was a copy written by Figueredo as a gift for his hosts.  The manuscript, today, is preserved in the National Museum in Havana.
