Ruinas de la primera Iglesia de "San Juan Evangelista", edificada en los primeros años de la Fundación de Bayamo. Destruida por las llamas del incendio revolucionario del 12 de enero de 1869, su torre sirvió de pórtico al primer cementerio de Cuba y América, construido en su fondo, que cumplía la real orden del 27 de marzo de 1797, que ordenaba la necrópolis a campo abierto. Estuvo prestando servicios hasta el año 1919. En los inicios de la década del 40 fue demolido para realizar obras de ampliación urbana.

Ruins of the first Church of San Juan Evangelista, built in the first years following the foundation of Bayamo.
