Betty Gayle Ayala and Ezekiel Orey Clifton Sr. and Norman Rice

Betty Gayle Ayala was born in Tampa,² on January 29, 1929,² and was a graduate of the Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School and the Barbizon Modeling School in NYC.²  On April 2, 1950,² in Tampa,² she married Ezekiel Orey Clifton Sr.² with whom she had two children, Judy^? and Ezekial Orey Clifton Jr. ^?  Ezekiel Sr. was born on December 5, 1905,² in Volusia County, FL ² and was an automobile dealer in Miami, Tampa, and Jacksonville until his retirement in 1957.²  At that point the family moved to Cocoa, FL where Ezekiel began developing lake front property for a housing subdivision.²  He died on June 1, 1961,² in Miami.²  Betty took over the family business of rental property, finished the land development property that Ezekiel had started, and went on to manage the property.²

Then, in 1963,² she married Dr. Norman Rice,^? remaining active in property management, until, with three other investors, they formed a corporation and built a nursing home in Cocoa.²  Betty became a licensed nursing home administrator and ran the nursing home until she died of lung cancer in Cocoa,² on October 19, 1990.²  Betty demanded quality care for all her residents and under her management the nursing home received the highest ratings by the state every year.  She was very proud of the fact that they never received a citation on any level for poor quality care.²
