Rafael Angueyra y Perdomo and Matilde Otilia Pinzon

Rafael Angueyra y Perdomo was probably born in Guanabacoa, near Havana, Cuba.  In about 1871, he  moved with his parents from Cuba to New York, and, after his father Francisco María, found work in Colombia, Rafael and the rest of the Angueyra family moved to Key West.  In 1875, Rafael’s older brother Basilio decided to join his father in Colombia, and Rafael accompanied him.  Once in Colombia, however, Rafael and his brother, Pacho agreed to stay in Bogotá, while the rest of the family went on to Tunja, where Francisco María was working.

Rafael married Matilde Otilia Pinzon, probably in Colombia, and they had three children, Josefina, Rafael, and Miguel Angueyra.
